On Friday 9 February, 88 more schools in England received their Artsmark Award, recognising their commitment to high quality arts and cultural education.

Since the Arts Council refreshed the Artsmark Award in 2015, these 88 schools bring the total number of awarded Artsmark schools to 478. Of these 88 schools, 42 received their Silver Award, 38 achieved Gold and 8 were awarded an Artsmark Platinum Award.

Amanda Rigler, Senior Officer for Artsmark, says; “I’d like to extend my huge congratulations to our newly awarded schools. Despite the challenges schools are facing in keeping the arts alive in schools, it is extremely inspiring to see the hard work, commitment and dedication of our Artsmark schools, in ensuring creativity is at the heart of all learning.”

Amanda continues “It’s wonderful to see our ever-growing Artsmark community offer such fantastic cultural provision to young people. There are now 3,431 schools on their Artsmark journey, either having received an award, or working towards it.”

Darren Henley, Chief Executive of Arts Council England, says; “I would like to congratulate each of our newly awarded schools on achieving their Artsmark Award. Being an Artsmark school demonstrates that through offering a broad, balanced and creative curriculum, young people have the opportunity to develop character and talent, increase their knowledge, curiosity and skills that will remain with them as they go through adult life.”
